The House of the Scorpion  by Nancy Farmer is about a boy named Matt who is a clone of El Patron.  Matt is born out of the womb of a cow.  Matt sees people outside his window and becomes friends with them.  He meets Tam Lin, his body guard, and he learns things from him. El Patron dies because he needs Matt's organs so he can replace to old and dying organs; but Matt is poisoned so El Patron cannot use Matt's organs.  After El Patron dies, Matt goes to a plankton factory so El Patron's guards don't kill him.  At the plankton factory, people don't like Matt there, so he escapes.  Everyone dies at El Patron's funeral because El Patron poisons their drinks  so they would die with him.  At the funeral, Tam Lin dies also.  After all that Matt gains control of the Opium plantation and he destroys it.

One of the main themes in the book is person vs. society.  I think that because society allows other people to make clones for extra body parts.  Society also allows for people to do drugs. Society lets El Patron clone people because he is rich.  Person vs society is theme throughout the book.

I would recommend this book to other 7th grader readers because it never got boring.  Every chapter you would learn something about a character or a new character would come in.  Each chapter there is action in it that isn't boring. It is sad in some parts but there is more good parts.  This is why I would recommend this book to other 7th graders.

Dillons Book Reviw

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, by John Boyne, is about a boy named Bruno who lives near a death camp. Bruno's Dad has to move by a death camp for his dad's job. Bruno makes a tire swing and falls off and cuts himself. Bruno's Grandma gets into a fight with Bruno's Dad, and storms out of the house, and never see her again. Bruno meets a kid in the death camp, and his name is Shmuel. Bruno's Grandma dies and they go to there old house for grandmas funeral. Bruno sneaks food to Shmuel because he is starving. Shmuel's Dad goes missing, but never returns. Bruno sneaks into the death camp so he can play with Shmuel. Bruno and Shmuel are in this group that march into gas chambers to die.
One of the main themes in the book is hatred. An example of how this theme is shown is when the Nazi's build a fence so the Jews can't escape. They did that so they can kill all the Jews. The Nazi's murdered other Jews because their hatred of them. That is the main theme of the book.
I would recommend this book to other 7th grade readers, because it is about the Jews in the death camp. People who like to read about what happen in the death camps would like this book. It is sad at the end, and a little boring, but it was a good book. People who like short books will like this book because it is not that long. That is why I would recommend this book to 7th grade readers.

You're Fired

 Dear Human Body Corporation:
You should not fire the Cardiovascular System because you will have problems. One of the three problems is Atherosclerosis. The second one is heart attack. The third one is Heart Failure. Atherosclerosis, heart attack, and heart failure, could happen to you if you fire the Cardiovascular System.
The first problem you may have is atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis is when cholesterol builds up in your blood vessels. If you didn't have me you would need to check your cholesterol a lot. You would not eat high cholesterol foods like Big Macs, eggs, or cheese. That is what would happen to you from Atherosclerosis.
The second problem you could have is a heart attack. Your heart is getting attacked because your heart muscle cells die, or get damaged. You would probably die with out me from heart attacks. Doctors would be caring for you from heart attacks. That is what would happen to you from heart attacks.
The third problem you may have is heart failure.Your heart does not meet the body's needs when you have heart failure. If you fire me, you will probably die. If you don't die then you will be in the hospital for a long time. That is what would happen to you from heart failure.
There are three big reasons why you should not fire the Cardiovascular System. One is atherosclerosis, that builds up in your cholesterol. Second is heart attack, that is when heart muscle cells die, or get damaged. Third is heart failure, that is when the heart cannot meet the body's needs. That is why should not fire the Cardiovascular System.
     Sincerely,
The Cardiovascular System

My Vacation in Hawaii

Bob and I were on a plane heading to our vacation spot in Hawaii. We were flying to Lanai Kauai during the hot summer. Lanai is a small city, but has a lot of tall buildings and many trees. Bob and I were wearing blue pants, with sneakers, and short sleeved shirt on. Bob was a tall, regular sized man with black hair and brown eyes. Suddenly, Bob and I smelled aviation gas from the plane's engines. Bob tripped and fell against the emergency door. He turned the release handle and the door sprang open. Because of the high pressure wind, Bob was sucked out of the plane.
      Bob screamed, "Save me Dillon!"
So I threw a parachute after him. Unfortunately this is when I also got sucked out of the plane too. As I fell I felt frightened that I would not survive. I knew I needed to get that parachute.
Bob yelled, "Why did you throw the parachute? We need it to land with, not on!"
Dillon yelled, "I didn't think that at the time!"
Bob yelled, "Man what are we going to do?"
Dillon shouted, "Is that a parachute below us?"
Bob shouted, " Yeah, but how do we get it?"
Dillon yelled, "If we put our head toward the parachute we go faster! And maybe get the parachute!"
Bob bellowed, "Dude you're crazy! Wow! Dillon you caught it! With your hands! Do you know how to put it on?"
Dillon yelled, "You put it on like a back pack!"
Bob yelled, "Just wondering since the last time you had it, you threw it out of the plane!"
Dillon shouted, "I am going to pull the string that releases the parachute!"
Bob shouted back, "Okay, I will start trying to move toward you!"
Dillon yelled, "Do it before I pull the string!"
Bob bellowed, "I can't! You are too far ahead of me. Pull the string! We are getting way too close to the ground!"
Dillon shouted,"I will pull the string!"
Bob shouted, "Awesome! Umph! Gotcha! This better work!"
They landed safely on the ground!
The main thing I learned from the experience was, don't fall out of a airplane without a parachute. We learned to cooperate together. We trust each other better because of that situation.
After that we did it again. Then we caught lizards and their tails fell off and wiggled in our hands. When we got to our apartment there was a cockroach in our room.
